Scenes from a protest held by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. The protest focused on pushing for legislative changes to improve labor rights, including the re-promotion of the Yellow Envelope Act. Protesters held up signs reading “일하다 죽지않게!” translated to “Don’t die while working!”
I stumbled upon this protest while walking the streets of Seoul and luckily happened to have my camera. I stayed for about two hours observing and taking photos. It was interesting to see how the differences between South Korean and American culture illuminated even during a protest. The event was organized from start to finish and protestors chanted in almost perfect harmony. At times they would even break out in song, which I found a bit amusing.
